The core work of this project is the “road monitoring” and “application promotion” of scrap tire-based asphalt-rubber pavement. The trial working project is promoted and the pavement performance is verified, in order to set up the domestic applicable technical specification and promotion goal, and then impel the asphalt-rubber pavement to be applied in domestic area comprehensively. Therefore, the working content of this project mainly covers four parts: (1) Performance evaluation for trial asphalt-rubber pavement section at Provincial Highway #61: The road sections at 33k+150~35K+000 (down section) and 43k+000~45k+216 (down section) of Provincial Highway #61 had been paved with scrap tire-based asphalt-rubber by the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA). After they were used for two years, the performance of gap-graded asphalt-rubber pavement was compared with common dense-graded asphalt pavement to understand the difference on engineering and environmental characteristics, in order to be used as the practical basis for the road authority on promoting it in the future; (2) Promotion for construction outline specification of asphalt-rubber concrete pavement: Assist the EPA to propose the specification for Chapter of “Asphalt-Rubber Concrete Pavement” to Public Construction Commission, Executive Yuan, in order to complete the construction technique and quality control rule of asphalt-rubber pavement domestically; (3) Promotion and promulgation of trial paving technique: Promote the trial pavement work between 120K+100~121K+200 and 122K+086~123K+550 up section of National Freeway #1, in order to assess the construction process and environmental characteristics of asphalt-rubber concrete pavement, and compare the engineering and environmental characteristics among open-graded, gap-graded asphalt-rubber and common open-graded asphalt pavement. In addition, transmit the feasibility for domestic application of asphalt-rubber pavement technique through the image record and the professional meeting; (4) Domestic scrap tire asphalt-rubber promotion operation: Promote the short-, middle-, and long-term application of domestic asphalt-rubber pavement, in order to expand the actual achievement of domestic project as the main purpose, and accelerate the technical popularization and industrial investment willingness.
